Company History

HJB Bowdens started life as Bowden Computer Placements in 1991.  Wally Bowden, one of Queensland’s most respected recruiters, established the company and built it into a specialist IT&T recruitment consultancy for the Queensland market.

The success of the company was based on their responsive client ethic, their IT knowledge and fairness, and their realistic assessment of people's capabilities.

In mid 2002, Bowden Computer Placements was acquired by Hamilton James & Bruce Group Limited - a national, publicly listed recruitment company.

After this time, many of the team remained and the things that made Bowden Computer Placements special – their understanding of IT, their ethics, their communication skills, and their honesty and empathy with both clients and candidates – also remained.

Bowdens continues to specialise in the IT&T market.  Having commenced as a contracting specialist for Queensland’s State and Local Government agencies, they have grown and now service a wide range of industries.

Bowden Computer Placements was rebranded as HJB Bowdens in January 2007, and continues to operate as a member of the Hamilton James & Bruce Group.
